A Feast For All the Senses – Be Our Guest at Domaine de Cromey

Entrance to Domaine de Cromey

Domaine de Cromey—the home of BurgundyWine.com located in the heart of Burgundy—is the jewel in the crown of one of the world’s foremost gastronomic regions. An idyllic manor house complex, it is dedicated to the enjoyment of culinary traditions and the natural beauty of Burgundy. Cromey, with six luxurious en-suite rooms set around a courtyard within the acres of a walled-in park, offers modern comfort and quiet sophistication in a setting from another era.

The list of things to do and see while you’re here is almost endless—you’ll be immersed in the history, food, drink and culture of the region, and be shown sights that other people can only dream of seeing. Here’s a brief overview of just some of the activities you could plan to do while you’re our guest.

Have a Burgundy House Party

We offer two main options at Domaine de Cromey. The first is our traditional party. We have six 5-star ensuite bedrooms and our traditional party is groups of 10 or 12 (and we have an extra bedroom if the party is a bit larger). The second is where individual couples can come and be part of a group, what we call 'Mix and Meet.' This is one house party you won’t forget in a hurry.

The Vineyard at Domaine de Cromey

Discover The Vineyard at Domaine de Cromey

We've recently replanted the historic Domaine de Cromey vineyard—seven acres of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, called Clos de Chateau. Its first harvest was in 2022, reviving the historical vineyard and traditions of the property. Because there’s nothing like growing grapes and drinking wines from the terroir of Burgundy—you can’t recreate it faithfully anywhere else, and as soon as you taste it, you’ll understand why.

Crops From The Garden at Domaine de Cromey

Our Favorite Recipes and the Gardens We Harvest From

Good food is at the heart of life at Domaine de Cromey. Things here remain traditional and in tune with nature; organic soils and compost, cover crops and raised beds, no chemical fertilizers or pesticides, no compromise. You’ll experience the wine and food of this wonderful region in the hands of Dennis and Ellie (and the rest of the team!) and many of the recipes are from Ellie's own cookbook, using vegetables from Cromey’s vegetable patch know as a potager.

Cycle Some of the Best Routes in France

We often host cyclists, and we work with professional cycling and nature guides who can advise on itineraries and show you where the action is. High-quality bikes of every calibre are available for rent from our professional partners in the region. There are more than 2,900km of breath-taking cycle routes to discover in Burgundy, and they can take you to some of your favorite vineyards, to historic castles and courtyards, along lazy canals and onward to picture-postcard cafes and restaurants.  To combine the best of Burgundy hospitality, food, drink, and a base to stay at and relax after your trip, cycling one of the routes from the Domaine de Cromey simply cannot be beaten.

You can also try ballooning! To see Burgundy from the air is to understand its pastoral roots. The vineyards. The river valleys and cliff faces. Pastureland with grazing herds. Villages that come alive as a balloon floats above. Spectacular is the word.

Perhaps you want to visit great towns, cities and their wineries and have a nearby base to return to at night? Then you can choose from Autun, Auxerre, or the Clos de Vougeot, and of course, the capital of the region itself – Beaune.

And to relax, unwind and spend some mindfulness time to recharge your battery, the tranquility at the heart of the Domaine de Cromey naturally soothes both body and soul—an idyllic setting for the mindful meditation and grounding discipline that is yoga.

Relax in the Salon at Domaine de Cromey

After a day’s sightseeing, you may be ready for a change of pace with some relaxation time. The Salon has parquet floors and oak-beamed ‘plafond a la française’. An open fire with the original fire-back dating from 1716 is the focal point of the room, and a restored Pleyel baby grand piano is the center of attention—a real jewel in the Cromey crown, and a joy to play.

Taste Some of the Best Wines in the World in our Tasting Room

Wine Tasting at Domaine de Cromey

Our tasting room—think private members’ club crossed with sports bar and a hint of baronial splendour—is based in a sixteenth century former winemaking facility. In fact, it was the foremost winemaking facility in the area, and the source of the wine enjoyed by the Nobles who called Chateau de Cromey (as it was then known) home. We’ll talk together about how we first met the producers of the Burgundy wines we sell; what’s their history, and how has their family shaped winemaking here over generations? We’ll look at the villages the wines come from, the specific plots the vines grow on and how they’re vinified.  You’ll learn about the wine’s character and everything you need to know about the art of tasting wine. (And for those who can’t make it overseas to us this year, keep an eye out for some of the virtual tasting sessions that we sometimes run with wines from Elden producers).

Why not Book your Burgundy getaway now? We’d love to welcome you and your loved ones into the heart of Burgundy for the trip of a lifetime. There are so many things to do from here, places to see and people to meet:
